Cloudera acquires Verta Operational AI Platform to bring trusted, hybrid AI to the enterprise

I’m excited to announce that Cloudera is acquiring the Verta Operational AI platform to bring trusted, hybrid AI to enterprises worldwide. The Verta team will join the Machine Learning group reporting to Chief Product Officer, Dipto Chakravarty, and I’m honored to step into the role of Cloudera’s Chief AI Architect. We look forward to joining Cloudera on this next phase of our journey to help accelerate AI and Generative AI adoption across the enterprise.

Over the last five years, we have developed the Verta Operational AI platform to support production AI-ML workloads in the most complex IT environments. The Verta Model Catalog, Model Operations, and GenAI Workbench have helped customers ranging from AI startups to Fortune 100 enterprises seamlessly manage, run, and govern AI-ML models on-prem and in the cloud. We have supported AI-ML workloads at massive scale, ranging from search for the global #1 business collaboration tool and business-critical workloads for top-5 US insurers to Generative AI workloads including multi-lingual RAG systems and LLM distillation.

As enterprises integrate AI across the business and respond to changed macroeconomic trends, concerns about data security, model safety, and growing GPU costs have led enterprises to adopt a hybrid, multi-cloud data and analytics strategy.

Cloudera, the original pioneer in big data processing and analytics, and now the platform with the most data under management, has long specialized in managing data and compute workloads in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. With Generative AI, there is a global demand for AI that can keep an organization’s data secure while bringing the latest innovations to market. Acquisition of the Verta Operational AI Platform will expand Cloudera’s existing AI-ML capabilities and enable Cloudera to bring trusted, hybrid AI to its global customer base.

I’m incredibly proud of all we have accomplished at Verta over the past five years. Joining forces with Cloudera will enable us to reach even more customers globally and help accelerate AI adoption across the enterprise.

We are grateful to all our customers who took a bet on us from the earliest days and trusted us with their most business-critical production ML workloads. Their feedback, alongside our open-source users and Workbench community, has helped shape our products to meet the ever-evolving needs in the AI space.

I’m grateful to all our investors including Intel Capital, General Catalyst, the General Partnership, Unusual Ventures, Village Global, Start Smart Labs, and angel investors for being on this journey with us and for their continued support.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the Verta team. Over the last five years, this team has envisioned, developed, and shipped innovative and enterprise-ready products at an unbelievable pace. A big thank you to all Verta team members, past and present, for bringing their best ideas, hard work, grit, and team spirit to Verta.

Now is undoubtedly the best time to be building in AI and we are excited to join forces with the Cloudera team to bring innovative, secure, and scalable AI solutions to enterprises worldwide.
